So it appears SW20 spedo drives aren't compatible with AW11's, sheared the drive pin, FML. Also keep getting code 52, that's gonna be fun to fix...

I suspect it's to do with the very rugged crimp joiner that's been put in there. Knew I should have fixed it before I put the motor back in :?

Probably the biggest work I have done in a long while with it, its been pretty solid until it failed its warrant for a dead shock absorber a few weeks back

Managed to get them all out yesterday

Image

Turns out all 4 of them are either stuffed or very close to being stuffed, anything rubber is falling apart and the top hats have play and wear, oh well, new ones are on the way

Another benefit of the new ones is they have adjustable damping which the old ones don't have, and being shiny and new, they don't have rounded off height adjusters, the current ones are all stuffed cause it looks like some asshole had at them with a cold chisel, which is stupid as the previous owner had the correct tools when he had it, and he then passed them on to me when he sold it

I also went on a de-ricing mission, removed the air filter and BOV, and will go back to the stock recirc valve when I buy the correct vac lines and pipes, and I have a standard JZA70 airbox on the way hopefully arriving this week that I can just bolt back in

Oil change on the RAV today, pretty handy not needing to get a jack out for that. 8) TGP filter and Castrol Edge, that should last it till I have a garage again.

Decided to clean up the FGK Muffler I bought for the Sprinter. Used a bit of stainless steel wool, a bit of dremel wire brush action (before the brush broke), and some autosol metal polish. Not perfect by any means but better than it was.

Its only half an exhaust, so will need to get it zapped on by somewhere the main part of the blacktop exhaust isn't too bad right? Preferably keeping flanges etc so I can put it back to stock later if need be. Anyone in akl feel like doing a cashie haha.

I totally forgot about the coke trick! I just used some hot soapy water. Might go over it again with coke. I heard apple cider vinegar is also a go.

New speedo drive pin, and new knock sensor + new tyres meant I could finally take the AW for a drive! Reasonably faultless 20k drive, though 5EFE knock sensor pulls timing in odd places

Got a pair of RE003's fitted to the front of the EP. Found my rear wheel bearings had a bit of play so tightened up. Hadn't checked since installing them so was expected.

Also found the right handbrake cable is gone, while the left is working alright. So will only replace the one which will save money! :)

Last time someone replaced one cable on my MR2 (before I bought it) one cable was longer than the other so only one brake worked anyway.

Mine got super stretched because the rear pistons and sliders all seized, and someone just kept tightening and yanking on the lever.

At $175 each I only want to replace 1! Hopefully it works and I don't have to replace the other...

I got both mine rebuilt for $120 but that was over 6 years years ago. However the handbrake lever never felt great, then one day I pulled a bit too hard and the short cable on the lever in the car exploded. The cable was slowly on it's way out. Secondhand cable in good condition changed the amount of clicks significantly even though I had adjusted the old cable to try and get it working properly.

Yesterday I replaced the door hinge. Door is no longer sagging but still play in bottom hinge. Ordered new hinges for both sides from Mark

Today I replaced both handbrake cables. After looking at it last week I decided I only wanted to do it once so did both. Only broke 1 bolt in the exhaust. Haven't really driven it but difference is immense. Actually have a handbrake now

Also picked up the piping for my oil relocation kit.

Gotta say a massive thanks to Mark for all his help with parts 8) I feel like I email for parts at least once a week (usually thursday as I get paid wednesday )

Quick Saturday mod - I pulled off my old foam EZ Lip and installed this glossy carbon lip in it's place. Was difficult to photograph due to the glossiness but you get the idea :)
