Motorkhana'd the 86. Good fun. Tyres didn't think it was such fun though.

Spent FN ages tracking down some standard springs for the DX corolla shell that I have so I can make it mobile,
and then go to fit them and find that it has shortened shocks in the front,
and there is no way in hell it's going to work.

Getting over it and feel a trademe add coming on.

Bit the Bullet and brought a set of TE37RT Black edition rims for the Ae111 from Import Monster to be shipped over
18x9.5" +22 all round should be good for a set of 265-285wide semis :)

Not loving the price but was a good $500-$600 cheaper then what i would be paying in NZ even with freight and the exchange rate

Was going to get some gram lights for $1300 cheaper but have always wanted to have TE37 as they suit the car so well (previously had 5zigen gn+s which look similar) also the weight saving ;p
Why dream it when you can live it

Is that the AE101 you've been talking about? Looks really nice. Almost as good as Scotts W1PPD :)

I'm very happy with the wheels and tyres on the MR2.

Pulled head off my old engine to have a look see. Why FTLOG did Toyota use 10mm double hex sockets on the 2jz head....

Used head bolts to mount new engine on stand. Now to get everything swapped over.

Swapped Trueno seats into the Corolla, only about 1000% better. I can actually corner without falling into the door!
Corolla seats in Trueno aren't as fun, it's got a sunroof so I had to gangster lean and turn my head to move it around!

Technically not my any more (my sister's) Trueno 20v.
Not really "today" (more of a month project): decided to tidy up the all faded supposedly UV resistant "Australian" paint (had a paintjob about 12 years ago).
Old repair was cracked on the rear quarter as well, so decided to fix that.

I am really disappointed in panel beater's work. Both quality of workmanship and quality of materials used. There was 1% panel beating and 99% crappy bog.
I am not sure if I should name the shop since it was long time ago, but probably the worst thing I spent $350 on. I will send them the pics and see what they say.
Basically the 2cm thick bog cracked after about 1 year from being repaired and let the water through thus rusting the metal underneath (it was not even prepared properly before filler). In some places it was simply bogged over the original paint (it made it easy to chip off). The whole thing came of in large chunks. The filler itself was really grainy, porous beige stuff.

So I actually moved the metal into shape so I don't need 2 cm of filler, hammer and ratcheted tie down straps all there was needed.

I will probably be crucified for this, but I am fixing it in unorthodox way: instead of filler and other car body repair crap I am using epoxy resin, fibreglass cloth and fairing compound (to make epoxy resin filler).

The idea is that the epoxy based filler will be much stronger and harder than off-the-shelf body filler. Combined that with fibreglass cloth it should make really strong and flexible fill material. The only downside it is much harder to work with and there is about 24hours wait time between fills.

If it works on the yachts in the ocean, it should work on the car on dry land ;).

I know, proper repair is to replace quarter panel, but hey it is a 25yo piece of shit.

You're surprised a $350 repair isn't top quality? Have seen fibreglass used before to cover holes, never dents though. Be interesting to see how well it holds up.
