hey all! thought i would share this with ya's cos i had sucha awesome time,i spent the day at pukekohe racetrack today with my work.our accounts manager knows the dude who races a dodge viper gts/r and a 1965 mustang in the super gt,the dodge puts out around 785 hp while the mustang puts out round 650 hp.i went for a ride in both of them today and holy hell! ive never been so scared and excited at the same time, our best lap was 58 sec's (although he was feathering it a bit) but man it was awesome iv never experienced such raw power! it was a fantastic day all round apart from a riced out type r civic crashing into the median barrier on the john deere corner.i found out it costs $2500 to hire out the track forr the day and maybe we as a club could look into in the future for a possible track day.

Great idea. I've tried this once before and my advise to you is make sure people put their money where their mouth is so you don't get left with the bill

Okay, I was there that day with my MR2 (ASSBEE organised pukekohe day / Nizan).
firstly, there's a Civic Type R who got owned.
then a SK2 got owned too.
There's a black AE111 which is ungodly quick it was running circles around all the street cars there is, yes it's NA, slick tires, stripped interior, it's the same kind of those crazy fast circuit cars you see in Japan.
There was the ST hi-tec modified black Silvia S15 Spec-R II (Featured in NZPC mag), which is crazy fast, it was dominating everything down the straight.
A lot of EVO 8's, STi's etc showed up.
An Accord Euro owned me around the bends but it was running semi-slicks. And anyone seen my dodgey NS-1's in the front will understand why.
I managed to pull 2 decent drifts around the hairpin while I spun out about 4 times, couldn't do the S bends, need better tires up front I was understeering into things.
My car overheated after 2 laps, due to dodgey tuner blowing up my head gasket.
Also melted my airtemp sensor wire together, I spent most of the time in the pits sorting out my car.
up the right hander where the CTR and the S2K got owned, I didn't go WOT, *TOO* scared especially with the Positive camber on my rear/left tire. Down that front straight I max out about 190kph, that's without going all out on that right hander
there was a Viper Race car which is ungodly quick, a Mustang of some sort I guess which is crazy loud, and there's a Holden appearntly with 800hp passed me at high speed like I pass Honduhs but spewing blue smoke.
Was a great day. intake Air-Temp stayed around 38-ish degrees for those who are interested in side mount GReddy intercooler for the MR2.

No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.

maybe u havent seen the fast hondas? The ones in SS2000 are doing amazingly quick times with standard motors like a 1600 vtec civic I know does 1.08s. Apparantly the turbo hondas are now dominating that class.

Id be interested in a trackday.
Kenny, is that temp with any other assisted cooling ? water inj etc ? also, what boost ? Im running the apexi sidemount, so it should be an interesting comparison.
None of that water injection crap, just a GReddy intercooler kit for the MR2, and a stock i/c fan running 24/7.
My friend was out in twilight roads doing some "testing" with the car, it stayed at the same temp too.
If I'm crusing in this weather, it says at 29 degrees, a couple months back cruising would be around 20-25 degrees. Once I stop in traffic the engine will heat up the sensor upto 35 degrees
(air will stay in the intake pipe as while idle you get air from the bypass pipe anyway, so it heats up etc.....)
Boost is 1 bar.
You might say well the temp sensor is dud, but to make sure things are what they say they are, I did stick my hand on the i/c (while trying not to get my fingers jammed between the running motor's cambelt and gears), and it's colder than Wildcard's bed.
So yeah. The only problem I see is the pipe before the thottle body, it's always warm due to engine heat.

interesting, I have the same setup, but with that wi crap. The IC does stay stone cold, but under sustained boost (.8 - 1bar) it did spike a fair bit. Nice and stable with wi tho. Was the middle of summer when I last got results though, so ambient was probably a bit more. Havent driven it for 7mths.

Got ice ?

yup, its ok when youre moving, but soaks like a sponge when stationary. I used exhaust wrap, slows down the heatsoak a bit.

yeh apparently the orange racing holden had sum kind of new seal hence tghe reason it was pissing out smoke, nether the less it was extremely quick..akane were u in the red mr2? im pretty sure i saw you on the day,is ur mr2 supercharged? haha it sure sounded pretty good down the straight
MrBob, I did think of getting some kind of heat deflector, but still toying with the idea at the moment, too much other stuff to worry about at the moment (ie: overheating problems). But yea, if your WI works for you then congrats
Steam cleaning should be reserved to Versace suits.
bzr ae111, yes that's my MR2, it's turbocharged (GT28RS), you can search for the list of mods in toyspeed profiles. Did you see the other black AE111? Crazy fast.
The holden was damn fast but pity about the problems it had.
Great day.

Try http://www.countiesracing.co.nz/modules.php?name=Calendar, look for days that are marked as "Controlled Testing". The next two days are 11/11 (Friday) and 26/11 (Saturday)
We know that four-wheel drive doesn't work in a racing car, and I proved to myself that it doesn't work very well for rallycross. I'm absolutely convinced that it has no future in rallying, either, even if the regulations allowed it. - Roger Clark (rallying legend), circa 1976
