Ok time to buy a BOV for my gte setup, not at all interested in the (look at me everybody) pssssssttt or "loud" fluttering type valves just something that is fairly good quality and lets you know its opening with out too much attention seeking. I quite like the sound that bovs give off on some big trucks, sounds sort of like "booooooooh", if you know what I mean??
Is there a bov brand out there that sounds familiar to this or??? quessing someone here is bound to know

Are these the "HKS super sequential types" that are on trade me?

Yeah haha, It is hard to explain what they sound like by text, but Im not really too interested in chasing the Evo that drives past to ask him what type of BOV he has hahaha
yer my brother had one on his red gtx, they are quite loud when you hit boost hard, you drive past and people are like what the f**k!!, sounds wicked but probly too loud for what you want
I got a SSQV, a VERY LOUD valve! I modified it, made sprign way harder, so it only opens when under high boost, other wise it was wenting out too much air, and was very loud every time I shifted or dropped the gas, also fuel aconomy got better as it is not wenting as much air out, just enough not to stall compressor at high boost. I still get za-ta-ta sound on low boost from turbo, but I get loud whistly ZSAA-TAA-ta-ta sound from bov coming off high boost.

cheers in adv
plumb back for sure. probably the only way to keep it quiet.
FYI the bov sound on trucks is the sound of the turbo thru the exhaust, with no load on it, nothing to do with BOV's or anything. my diesel van does the same thing without the exhaust..
normally the flutter that you hear is compressure surge
get a mr2 one plumb it back and you have a good bov that wont leack and offers the best preformance your gunna get relistically
True-No-Turbo wrote:Thanks for the advice, plumbback I think is the go for me, any idea what psi an Mr2 one is good for v ??
Hi, I'm V's sidekick so I'll answer that for him.
The MR2 one is good for very high HP, there are yanks in the states who are still using them on 500hp+ cars.
you HAVE to have it as plumback because it sucks air in during offboost (called a bypass valve), this is a function which bypasses air going into the turbo during cruise to maximise response and fuel economy (questionable).
No "stance", no "hellaflush", none of that bullshit. Nothing but no grip on full boost.
