Picked up this rear disk conversion from an AE101 GT last time I was in NZ.
I could swear that I had read that these brakes can be swapped onto the AE92, but they look much different from my current setup..
BTW this is a wagon.
What am I missing?
I know the problem isnt that its a wagon because the AE92 brake conversion can be done on my car.
Shouldnt they all be interchangeable than? Or am I just making things up?
Thanks

Hi,
I have put AE101 disks onto a AE101 drum corolla, but not onto a AE92.
Do you have any other bits? Or is that all?
You might need the rear track control arm, it will bolt to the rear of the hub onto the long bolt sticking out to the lower left of the bottom pic. This should be similar in length to the arm sticking straight up - however it will be adjustable with a hex adjuster about halfway down its length.
This adjustable arm will be the same as track control arms off drum braked, coil spring rear AE100, AE101 etc corollas.
You will need the brake caliper and handbrake (emergencybrake) cable as well.

I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!

you need the handbrake cable all teh way to the handbrake as its diff on disks
I have the handbrake cable.. but not the other arm. In the pic though you can see that the position of the front arm is farther forward on the AE101. Whats with that? How could it bolt up?

ae82 are also different from AE92 and AE101, the struts are completely different, so the strut bolt spacing, the swaybar attaches to one of the arms not struts like in AE92-101.
Well.. I ask that because here in the states people either swap the AE82 or AE92 disks onto my car, as there are no other options, so I know for a fact those are interchangeable.
I had seen another, on an Australian website I think it was, that went into a huge amount of detail about rear disk conversions for the FF AE cars. Thats where I read (L'ess I was on the ""P"") that I could use the AE101 disks on my AE92. Think I found that page off this forum. Anybody have the link? I searched.
So are you saying I couldnt use the AE82 stuff?

Oh yes AE92 ones will definitely fit, but what I have is the AE101 brakes and what I was told is that they will work. They are better also, no?
I just want a definite answer about if or how much of this conversion that I have can be used on my car. So what I have gathered so far is that I can upgrade to the AE101 disks/calipers once I have swapped on the AE92 hub, but that I cant use what I have beyond that.
Am I wrong, dead on, what?
Thanks a lot,

OK - you might also need to get hold of the arm that bolts onto the bottom of the hub and goes forward as in your top picture. Get it off an AE101/AE100 etc. My understanding is that the mounting points where the arms and subframe bolts to the body are in the same position in the AE92 and AE101 - this might be why you where told that "it will bolt straight in"
Do you have the calipers?
Do you have the handbrake cable... if so how much of it?
Do you have AE101 series corollas in the USA?
If you do... are they beam axle or macpherson strut rear end?
If they are macpherson strut buy the arms you need - the rear adjustable arms and the arm that goes forward.
I suspect the only reason that you have the one arm you show in the picture is because the big long bolt that holds it is siezed into the hub and the wrecker couldn't get it out. This happens quite often... use lots of CRC, turn the bolt with a big spanner and tap and work the big bolt out with a hammer (DON"T hit it so hard that the thread gets damaged)
Once we work out what bits you have and what bits you need I am sure we can help you to get the right bits - either in the USA or sent to you from NZ.

OK so the mounting points are in a different position but I just need the arms..
I have the handbrake cables on either side but I guess I still need to get the thing that thay bolt to under the handbrake from an AE92. I have the calipers. Anything else I need? Our AE101s are strut also.
OK I'll take a look... Thanks a lot guys.
