caldina gtt boost proplems
I brought my self a GFB boost contoller and tryed it on my caldina gtt. i did what it said on the intructions and shit. and some reson the car peaks at 1. 5 bar and then drops of to its desirerd boost setting. It boost allright in first gear but when u hit 2 to 5th it just fuel cuts. does any one no why it peaks so high. could it be the controller.. but tryed it on mates evo and worked fine aye... so yeah need some help.. cheers
You have it set to far open, in first gear there is less load on the motor there for in turn less on the turbo. Your best to " tune" it based on 3rd gear.
Full boost in 3rd gear, might only be 9/10ths of what it is in first for eg.
Long story short re tune it but boost hardest on 3rd gear for most accuracy, and accept you will not run " full " boost in first gear.

Just have to re-iterate this, or you next post will be 'help I think my caldina's dead'....
Also, your mate's evo is probably afm based, whereas your caldina is map sensor.

It's not the problem, the problem is poor boost control algorithms.
there is not a single caldina i know of with accurate boost maintaining the factory waste gate.
Well mine does, maintains it perfectly with no overboosting whatsoever.
Then again I have a good quality dual solenoid boost controller (HKS EVC IV). So maybe that's the answer, not some wanky external wastegate.

You're not thinking about the problem properly.
A boost controller is basically just a wastegate controller. The wastegate will only be a problem if it cannot flow enough or is leaking while closed. From what others have said the caldina turbo doesnt suffer from either issue in a mild state of tune.
A flat boost level is entirely achievable with a good controller.

there may be another problem, along the lines of Al's suggestion.
There is a large (200ml +) cannister in the factory boost control lines, this will cause your control inputs to be sluggish, and spike. You need to blank this off.(it's bolted under the inlet manifold)
