One of the cons is they're an old motor, and parts are getting to be quite hard to come across.

Yeah but timing chain tensioners, pistons and bearings are. As long as its in good nick it'll be fine.

Bearings are easy to source as shared with the very common other T series motors (2T, 2TG, 3T), pistons if upgrading to forged (the factory pistons are weak) are around $1100ish last time I looked into it. The tensioners can be harder to find but if you have them apparently they can be resurfaced.
The motor isn't really an easy fit in a Starlet but can be done, cutting will depend on the gearbox you want to run. Then you will definitely need a new diff.
Callum
awesome
awesome, is it a descent price at $600?
please continue to throw you're opinions at this thread as i would like as i would like to get a bit more info on the motor before i say yes or no.
thanks

Mate of mine did that conversion couple of years back, do it right and get cert, have engine mounts made up by professionals etc and you will be sweet as. Work the engine a bit lots of power in a lil car is fun
. You might want to increase the wheel base tho (not as hard as it seems) will give you alot more control.
Mmmmm boost
