ae111 oil problems
hey guys.
i have a 1996 toyota levin ae111. i have been having some engine troubles and the engine has been holding back. so i thought hmm missfire??it sounds like a misfire? so i thought well the spark plugs hasnt been changed i betta change em. so i did.
after changing them the problem is still happening. so i thought well the otha week the engine oil was on like half so i checked it this afternoon and it was just below low on the dip stick!!
this means in under 5000kms i have used 4litres of oil!
i asked my brother which has the same car and his car seems to eat oil real fast.
does anyone have this problem aswell or is it totaly normal.
any solutions????
any help wouldbe awsome!
thanks

if its not leaking from the sump plug, then don't worry about buying a bronze washer.
how many Kms on the clock?
I'd use around that much oil too, most of them use oil, the amount just differs car to car I think
As long as you keep enough oil in it, it shouldn't cause you any issues.

So you have a car that is using lots of oil and will probably at some stage run out of oil if you forget to top it up,
and you have removed the oil sender and replaced it with a bolt?
Best you start saving and looking for a second motor now for when your retardedness destroys the one you have now.
i noticed mine used a bit as well in the 6 months between servicing. not sure how much, but not 4L - probably more like 0.5-1L
about a month ago, my oil pressure light was flashing... my mate suggested putting in lucas (same as moreys), an engine oil stabilizer. i think it has similar properties to the magnatec oil - it creates a thin film lubrication on the engine... i pulled off the cam cover and poured it on directly
i did an oil/filter change earlier (while i had the car jacked up) and noticed there was bugger all drained out. the lucas had caused it to go all dark and thick, as the engine was still warm most of it probably hadn't settled back into the sump
the factory oil pressure sender units apparently only register if it the oil pressure drops below 5psi. the aftermarket electronic autometer gauges are much better - although i haven't upgraded yet

wtf?it was a modified oil pressure sender for an auto guage but it did not fit straight into the block so it had a spacer rod to clear the bracket(all installed before i bought the car). after doin some long distance traveling the viabrations and the weight of the oil pressure sender snapped this spacer rod. so i fixd it and the same thng happened again. so i got it professionaly removed and the sump sealed up.???
how the hell is tht retardation ..?
how ever i did lose some of this oil wen the oil pressure sender snapped. so i had to toped it up . the car has just ticked over to 125000kms....

Or just try a mineral 20w40 or 20w50. Shitty thin synthetic oils tend to dissapear out of aging jap motors quite quickly.
Case and point - My brother had a 1.8 mitsi libero. Made the mistake of putting 10wsomethingarather synthetic in it, some ugly blue crap that looked like window cleaner. Very next day it's blowing smoke and using oil. Changes the oil and filter, goes back to good old GTX 20w40. Everything goes back to normal, car runs fine. Car had something like 145000k on it.

wouldnt use magnatec mine eats it with-in a week or two and engines in good shape...
if you can find it.... the below oil has run very well in mine under hard driving and not vanished like the magnatec

The way that read it made it sound like you took out the oil sender and put a bolt in there to fill the whole so there is no oil light or gauge.
That is retarded.
If you still have a light/gauge etc then thats ok.

Repco used to stock it, not entirely sure if they do now or not. Repco and probably even supercheap should be able to get it no trouble, or any garage that uses Valvoline oil.
