4agze problems.. again

Post by z|gen »

Hey guys..

finally got my car a warrant.. :D

but, its still having issues..

engine is a 4agze from ae92 with AFM, and has CAS and coil packs..

problem is the car dies at low rpm when warm, when engine is cold, its fine, and it runs fine over 3000rpm, but anything under and it sucks..

i took it to my mechanic (midas porirua) and they spent 3 days going over it and couldnt find anything and said that its likely to need an aftermarket ecu and an auto sparky..

before i go down that route, has anybody got any ideas?

was thinking of changing to distributor and single coil set up?

You checked the codes?
Might want to try checking the AFM, might be buggered.

Just get a paper clip, and put in the diagnostics box.
Terminals E1 and T.
Turn the key to ON, but dont start. And count the engine light flash, make sure to note the intervals between them.

yeah, went back to midas today to clarify a few things..

its not ignition related, so its fuel.. they think either ecu, afm, oxy sensor or TPS..

so just trying to find another early model ae92 gtz afm and ecu to try and i think il just see if i can get brand new oxy sensor..

not alot of these engines around and i dont know anyone in welly with one either to try test and eliminate bits either

bump..

possibly thinking may be linked to a vacuum line issue through the VSV..

while having a look at all the vacuum hoses.. for replacing the boost guage and to do the abv mod, mine seems different..

iv drawn a rough picture of how mine is setup at the moment, any ideas on correcting it?

Image

thanks Dave

What is the idle like up to 3000. Is it ruff like it is missing?
Just as my bike dose this only when warm (i dont know why not when its cold). my problem is i have 600cc carbys (with aftermarket needels) on my 400cc engine. but i am still getting to much fuel, only affects it when its warm and below around 2000-1500 rpm. I'd check sensors that control fuel as it sounds very similar. I live with it as it works to my advantage.
O2 sensor maby idk. but i'd be testing any that could effect fuel flow and amounts. and even the fuel punp (pump mainly wont flow enough when they start to go, so it effects high revs not low ones) but worth a look
