Thinking about buying Advanti SA15's. Yes or No? *Pics*

I'm thinking about changing my current wheels (17" Advanti Photon's in Hyper Silver) to some 17" Advanti SA15's in white. The SA15's are brand new, a good price, 17x7 and with a 42 offset. The offset of my current wheels is 40, whereas my previous wheels were 35 offset (which made them sit almost flush with the front guards), so I'd like to install a set of 5mm hub-centric spacers. What are your thoughts on using 5mm spacers? Am I correct in saying that they won't require a cert since they're only 5mm?

Anyway, back on track, the main reason I made this thread is to get opinions on what you guys think of the SA15's on my Corolla, in comparison to the current wheels. I've done a really rough photoshop of what the wheels could look like when fitted, but it doesn't really do them justice. Please let me know what you think, or simply vote in the poll:

That's the thing, I'm not 100% sure if they suit the car or not, hence why I'm asking for opinions before I go and spend a shit load of cash

i have white SA15's on my Blueprint AE111 - the white suited the blue very well

but

after 2 weeks i got bored with keeping them clean and they were a pain in the ass to get bright again after a year of not washing them LOL

Much better with the white sa15's. I'd like to see it on lightweight 15x7's with 205/50's with a good offset though, just my preference.

IMO, 195/50's on 15x7 is pretty much perfectly square sidewall - assuming you don't gain too much guard gap by going down in profile.

If you are looking at those Avanti's, have a look for some OZ's - pretty sure the Avanti's are just OZ copies.

I was going to say no to the idea of SA15's, just because they seem to be resonably common (or at least down here they are). But looking at those photos I think they could look quite nice.

Don't know how easy they are to find anymore, but Enkei WRC Tarmac Evos are very similar but look that little bit better imo. Voted yes out of those two options though as they do look good.

I think you should stop looking at Avanti wheels. If you want this Corolla to be 'mad JDM tyte y0' then start looking at real deal quality Japanese rims like Works, Volks, SSRs etc. Also fit some decent width and offset rims, none of this 17x7 +42mm bullsh*t. Your rear guards appear to have been rolled so may as well fit some appropriate wheels!

Also SA15s are soft and easy to buckle yet still manage to weigh heavier than Enkei Tarmac Evos which are now just about impossible to find.

if you can keep fuel from talking about euros and mitsis he actually makes some sense

unless your brakes require a minimum of a 17 to clear, im another vote for 15s (just my opinion though)

Hmm yeah, I was wondering how hard they'd be to keep clean, being white and all. Fortunately my Bendix brake pads don't emit any noticeable brake dust so shouldn't be too much of an issue, but that's certainly food for thought. Mine would be getting cleaned at least once a week

A few people have suggested to go with 15's in the past, but I personally wouldn't want to go any smaller than 16's. One of the biggest reasons why I want to stick with 17's is because I've got 5 brand new 205/40/17 tyres in the garage. Would prefer to use them rather than sell them and get next to nothing.

Thanks for the link. Figured there would be an issue with running spacers. Guess I'd be able to get away with it if I didn't go to VTNZ for a WOF (or took them off beforehand), but that's good to know. Yeah I know what you mean. That's one thing I like about the Photon's - You never see them on any other cars. The biggest downside with the Photon's however is that they're next to impossible to touch up being hyper silver and the spokes appear too thick when they're viewed directly from the side.

Wouldn't mind some Volks or SSRs, but they're way out of my price range. The SA15's are $800 for the set of four (brand new). Would definitely like to go lower with the offset, but short of buying wheels brand new from a store, my choices are somewhat limited. Yep, the rear guards are rolled. Good info about the softness of the SA15's, definitely worth considering.

I've been looking on www.upgarage.com (have to use someone like Hayatonka to buy them) and they have a huge range.

Or Yahoo Japan (again Hayatonka or Mac @ 41) usually have a good selection on used JDMyo! wheels
