Did a search, but couldn't find anything specific to this problem, although I do know that the caps in the ECU give problems.
I have a 1992 Levin 20v here, the check engine light came on and the car lost power. It would still go and start but had very little power.
Anyway, I tried to check the codes by bridging TE1 and E1, but the eng light would flash erratically or would stay be on but dim like it was trying to flash very fast, no two times would it blink the same, I've read plenty of codes from engine check lights but this was just random.
So I put the car in the garage to check it over, and now it won't even start, just cranks over.
I've pulled the ECU out and opened the lid, but the caps seem to be OK. I'll upload a pic.

Update: I put the ECU back in, now the car runs, still have Check light, still low on power, but still cant get any codes, now the light does nothing, just stays on?
Has an average idle, not sure if this has to do with me disconnecting the battery while removing the ECU.
So the car starts fine but has a constant check light that I can't check?
I pretty sure it's TE1 and E1 to check, I can't find any info saying otherwise.
As per this thread http://forums.toyspeed.org.nz/viewtopic.php?t=73031&highlight=check+cheque+light+stays my problem could still be caps in the ECU even though it's not visible.
Will look into getting another ECU, but I am open to other ideas!

almost certainly ecu = replace
I used to think that the orange and green tictacs gave you special powers. The orange ones would make you stronger and the green ones would make you faster. So i used to eat some green ones and run around my lounge as fast as i could, then eat the orange ones and try to pick up the sofa. I wish it were true!
Just incase anyone searches this thread in the future, all these problems were ECU problems. Got the caps replaced, car runs sweet now.

double win
No problem,
I hate when I'm sifting through old threads and finally find a thread with the problem I'm experiencing only to find that the OP didn't conclude the thread.
