Re: Blade push button start operation

The battery in the remote must be fine, because my brand new key fib and key does this also.

I thought about the brake pedal switch but that must be working as it does need to be pressed to crank otherwise it cycles from acc, to on, to off.

Does your instrument cluster show any light when the ...

Blade push button start operation

I've had an 07 Blade Master G for a bit over a year now and a little something has been a bit annoying since I first got it.

Every other push button to start vehicle I've driven (Literally every Mazda and Ford, with some other more modern Toyotas) have been configured so that if you hold the brake ...

Workshop recommendations in Lower Hutt?

Hey does anyone even check this place anymore?

I need the water pump replaced on my Blade Master G, I know these are a pain to do, and I'd do it myself but all my tools and gear is at my parents place in the Wairarapa.

I've already been to Toyota in Upper Hutt (as I needed the airbag replaced for ...

Re: Squeezing oil into a T-50 gearbox....

Careful with adding too much oil in gearboxes.

They're supposed to have the bottom half of the countershaft in oil and it's usually supposed to sling the oil to the top input/output shafts.

If you drown the box in oil I guess you slow it down/ add resistance.

There must be a reason the ...

Re: Octane rating vs compression ratio

MPS requires 95. 9.5:1CR + Boost.
No fancy double injectors per cylinder. Just GDI and 2000+ psi fuel pressure from the pump.

You do have variable intake cam control too, the very same system that is used on the diesel cam of the new Mazda2.

Valve timing directly affects the compression ratio ...

Re: Octane rating vs compression ratio

I have seen people put 91 in company Ford Focus, that clearly states min 95 on gas flap.

This kills the focus, not really, but I have heard some knocking Focii in my time; usually manuals that oldies chuck 91 in then complain about a noise when they start off in first as it's knocking it's head ...

Re: Octane rating vs compression ratio

A couple of things
Direct fuel injection
And/or
Atkinson cycle (vs otto cycle), i.e. Prius m

According to Mazda it's closer to the miller cycle with out any FI m
So, it's not running that high compression all the time.

So easiest explanation is they can do it because they have very fine control ...

Re: AE111 headlight upgrade, what lens # do I need?

Hmm, that kit looks closer to the pre facelift than the facelift light, could be ill fitting because most cheaper fiberglass kits are?

I'd hope they take the same bulbs as your current lamp if you were changing them over, bulbs have almost a universal plug on them.

Looks like separate low/high ...

Re: Brake dust removal tips

You could be right, but pretty much every thread I have read about applying plastidip to wheels states that its pretty crucial to get rid of any traces of dirt/brake dust etc, if you want a good finish, that will last as long as possible. Which is what I want.
I just dont want to waste $170 of ...

Nolathane front swaybar mounts for AE101 chassis are incorrect, they list a plain D bush which won't fit the funny angled bracket they have. Super pro do a bush to suit though

TIL

I never had a problem with the sway bar bushes when I had mine, so never really paid attention to the bracket ...

Hell, I got dragged off at the lights by a turbo diesel mondeo recently
Granted I was only running actuator pressure (8psi) and the fords turbo sounded quite a bit louder than what they should do (guessing raised boost?)
But why stick a 25 year old engine in a new car?

Those things are hella ...

Sway bar bushes, yes you can get Nolathane.

Other bushes (ball joints?), if they are specific to SS, get genuine.

Not knowing exactly what car you have (you don't say model, year etc), but having replaced a fair few hoses myself, the way that works for me is usually as follows.

Make sure you have the correct hose before you start, try to check it visually, or try to hold the new hose near the old and compare ...

It wont prime unless you crank it over.
Check voltage to pump while cranking or run return line from fuel rail into a container

Not true for most (maybe all?) vehicles I've worked on.

Usually key to on/run position will prime the fuel pump for a second or two giving a very distinctive ...

Common upgrade for XR6 turbos as their factory turbo feed gums up and kills the turbo, but I don't think they're particularly necessary for your car Gav.

XR6 turbo and Territory Turbo both run gauze filters inside banjo bolts for the oil feed from the block, as mentioned above they get a bit ...

I would be going over the basics and checking the position of the intake (on most carbs there is a little lever to direct the intake from the exhaust manifold [hot air] or to the front [colder air]).

Then check ignition timing, make sure the points are good and clean, set the gap, make sure the ...

Toyota thermostats, spark plugs, filters and belts (in some cases) are cheaper than the aftermarket alternatives over here so it makes more sense. And the quality of the thermostats is significantly better than the other options also.

Toyota thermostats are awesome, I've had nothing but ...
