romanV, these are non-interference engines with normally about 2.5mm clearance. there is some adjustment with the vvti cam, but only about 1-2degrees (on the outer cup/body the bolt holes are slotted). just dont pull your vvti cam unit apart! i did just to see how it works and took me 5hrs to put it ...

Its quite simple once ya figure it all out.
as the exhaust gas flows out the combustion chamber and thru the manifold, it created a light vacuum behind it. so when the piston goes into its next stroke the vacuum helps suck out any left over gas.

anothonym, yeah they were bloody expensive, but i had been looking for two months so $400 was worth it!
I have bored them out to 48MM, used weber butterflies and bolted them to an altezza 3sge in my sw20.
ive also got a set of 45mm nissan throttles of a gtir which are nice but molded in pairs. so ...
