open the sunroof and have a look in the roof liner, there is a gutter system in there which then drains out via tubes to near the door hinges, all four of them I think, to allow for different angles of parking..... it doesn't take much to block these tubes a few leaves or a crafty spider and the the ...

Didn't you rebuild a gearbox a while ago with some mystery washer/bush/ thingy-mabob left over at the end????... If this is the same box i'm putting my money on that being the issue..

what system are you using for remote starting, one of those steal shield alarms? it has been ages since playing with them but can't you hook it up to the oil pressure light instead, of charge light to let it know the enigine is running? might be a bit more reliable, as long as it doesn't crank ...

used "castrol manual multitrax" which is what toyota albany claim to use in their service department, they also didn't seem to think the oils needed changing interestingly.

The front box and transfer are linked internally but have two seperate sump plugs but one common filler point.

can you describe noise further?

From what you describe sounds the same as mine.

Turned out to be the inner cv after 2 mechanics diagnosed it being the diff (1 being toyota). cv alot cheaper to replace than pulling the box..
From what I've heard the cv's do start to get a bit noisey at those ...

why not buy one of those uniden modules? all ready for 12V auto programming (I think) designed to be activated by a uniden alarm but pretty sure it is just a 12V pulse/ground switch

on a ST215 you pick the circlip out from the inner edge of the CV cup then pull the driveshaft out, cv balls go everywhere - a bowl to catch them is a good idea, then once driveshaft is out of cup the inner CV assembly is held on with a circlip on the end of the driveshaft remove that tap the cv off ...
