Re: What did you do to your car today?

Threw some soap at it and then slapped a splitter on:

Re: 1NZFE disappointingly slow; what can be done?

Since it's fly-by-wire, chuck a throttle controller in there. Will make the response a lot better.

Re: 2AZ-FE High Oil Consumption

The 2AZ-FE is a notorious engine for using oil. From the first 2001 ACV36 shape Camry's right through to the late model Blades and Estimas they tend to burn/use oil consistently, which usually results in engine failure due to the owner not checking the oil level regularly. I work at a Toyota wrecker ...

Was it only Kiwi Corollas that didn't have them then?

Nope, all of them didn't have them. OBD-II didn't become available until the NZE120 Corollas (RunX, Fielder etc).

Re: 97 Corolla OBD2 port location NZ Car

You can stop looking because it doesn't exist on that model ;). OBD-I only. All you need is a paperclip to check any codes by bridging the TE1 and E1 ports of the diagnosis box in the engine bay.

Re: C56 LSD identification

If your C56 has a factory LSD then it'll have a thick bar through the middle, so thick that you can only just see a tiny amount of light either side. A non-LSD C56 will still have a bar through the middle but it will be a lot skinnier.

Here's some pics for your reference. The 1st is LSD and the 2nd ...

Re: What did you do to your car today?

You need this one: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Toyota-Corol ... Sw--1WrqKc

I find the Gregory's manuals are often better than Haynes anyway.

Which Haynes one did you get by the way? Their Corolla one does cover the 1ZZ but maybe you bought one for the wrong market: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/NEW-HAYNES-R ... w8lCCHo3jw

edit: guessing you bought this one, which is for the UK market: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/Haynes-Owner ... SwAYtWMwL7

Re: Installing OEM roof racks on ZZE122 Corolla?

Not worth it in my opinion. The factory roof racks actually mount to the roof skin (which means you have to drill holes) and have factory brackets spot welded underneath that they screw into. We sell a bunch of them at work, despite telling customers what they're in for, and most of them end up ...

Re: What did you do to your car today?

New mods! I discovered that EZ Lip have recently introduced a silver version into their 'Colors' range, so I decided to buy one off TradeMe and give it a shot. My front bumper has seen a few lips over the last 18-months that I've had the car, all of which have been torn off or been damaged beyond ...

Mine has a Suruga Speed muffler. Sounds really, really good.

We're gonna need a video of you revving it's tits off to verify that statement I'm afraid

If you don't want to splash out on an exhaust system or muffler then chuck a pod filter on. The intake sound from these engines is awesome, and ...

Intentionally terrible pun. Are they not the standard calipers? You'd think a car that big would have twins at least.

Yeah they're the standard calipers, just painted red. Same brakes as the 2.4L Camry equivalent would you believe. You'd think they'd be twin pots on the 3.5L (like the TRD ...

Yep, they're engine specific. The part number for the Caldina 3S-GE valve is 15330-74020, which is the same as the BEAMS 3S-GE SW20 MR2, ST202 Celica and SXA10 RAV4.

On most NZ New/Aus New Toyotas with coded stereos the pin code is the last 4 or 6 digits of the VIN number (depending on how many numbers the stereo allows you to input).
