3S-GE in my 90 SW20: 7000rpm. But thats like a thin red line up to 7250rpm, then its thick red all the way up to 9000rpm
Motorsport is like sex. You could take it to track and have a long, enjoyable session, or you could take it to the strip and get it over with in less than 20 seconds.

My 2K Starlet didn't have a rev counter, so I couldn't tell you what redline the mighty 2K had.... iirc it makes its whopping 45hp at around 5500rom, so I imagine redline isn't far past that!

Once I had 80km/h out of it, absolutely screaming it's nuts of in 2nd.

Alfa redlines at 6000rpm, but thats for the old 1.5l engine, the new 1700 redlines at 6500rpm, and makes maximum power at 6300rpm. Alfa tend to set fairly timid redlines on the tacho, but when I did have a rev limiter, (mechanical, centrifugal device in the dizzy rotor - now replaced by a Mk4 Cortina rotor without such a limiter) it cut in at 7200.

I think mines 6,750 it redlines (would have to check), although as soon as my car hits red line, you get that nice bouncing sound going and the lack of power after that point.

Same with my old factory ECU, no speed cut and no rpm limit (well none that i was game enough to find :) )

4age 16v 7200rpm. My model doesnt have a rev cut out or speed cut out. Found that it had no rev cut out on the dyno as the dude who drove it reved it to 8grand.

Hmmm, perhaps the ST185's dont have cuts, as Garth (Al knows him ) reckoned his never cut out, but I dont think he ever tried to bounce it off the limiter.

I think you'll find that all 4age's with std ECU will have a rev cut.
From memory they range from 8200 to 8600 though.

So the Toyota engines are getting up there aye? Coolness all around :D . I think I'll leave the redline where it is so my friends and mechanics think twice about revving it any harder.

FYI The Gen III 3S-GTE can be takin up to 8000rpm due to its shim under bucket design so i've read, but you wouldnt be making stuff all power up there without mucking with the cams i'm guessing.
