rocker cover removal - any tips?

Any tips re removal of 3sgte rocker cover? Will i need to replace the gasket (assuming there is one)?

On Gen 1 - 3 all you do is remove all the bolts and lift it straight off so I can't see how yours will be any different, you don't need to replace the gaskets but you probably should.

alot of things probbaly should be done, but dont get done if you like your engine, do it just for the fact of while its off, you do it!

mate, i have removed many a rocker cover, and i have NEVER replaced a gasket, and never had leaks afterwards. Even 30 year old 3k's with factory seals, good as gold.

Just make sure you clean both sealing surfaces of oil with a rag before re-attachment, and bolts are done up securly.

In the end its only a piece of rubber. You don't need to replace it but if you want a flawless 100% reliable (:roll:) car relace it. There only about $10 from supercheap. Just keep the seal away from contact once its off i.e. don't rest it on the concrete like I did .

also, make sure you dont *pince* the rocker cover seal, otherwise youll know about it
