i have been told that R,T and A series motors all have the same mounts. my mates got an ae70 which has a 2t-geu in it so A and T are true. now will an 18R-GEU fit in too? a few people have said no but a few people have said yes so what do u think?

yep total shit. R series mounts are about 6" further forward than A series

then how does the 2t-geu fit straight onto the A series mounts in the ae70 ?

maybe they changed the mounts or modified them slightly ?

Pull the T series out of your TE71 and drop in a 4A. Guarantee it won't bolt straight up. They will have swapped around bits and pieces or the motor won't be sitting the same as the factory T series motors. Some cars are close but are not identical.

in the ae70 it doesnt look like the mounts have been changed/altered.

might of done what i did, changed the subframe to an ae70 or ae85 - 6 one

i think that more to the point is that x-members and mounts can be mixed and matched to swap about anything into anything...

Very strange, the 18RGEU in my KE70 has the mounts much closer to where the T and A series ones sit.

i've got an R and a T series crossmember for my celica and there is a drastic difference in where they situate the mounts, like it looks like a reversed crossmember pretty much.

I know a guy with a 2TGEU AE70, he had to use a TE71 crossmember/subframe to get things to fit. If you have a TE71, an AE70 engine crossmember may bolt up..

Except all the T series are box and the A series are rack so a bit of extra work sorting that.
