Whats Your Revs To Speed?

Postby Muzzie » Sun Oct 02, 2005 2:43 pm

Morbid curiousity got the better of me, and I'm curious to see what revs peoples car do at 100 in top.

Heres what my turbo uno does :)

Yet Another Oversized Image

1.3L, EFi, Turbo, 5spd, 185/60/14 tyres.

Can anyone top that :) And I have pics at 80 as well to show proportions if anyone is interested.

My Hiace does 2300 at 100.

My sentra does 1400 at 50kmh, 1990 at 70kmh (the needle is JUST below the 2000 marker) and 2800 at 100kmh, which seems quite high after seeing yours. Its a gutless heap of crap so I guess they lowered the gear ratios and final drive so it actually picked up speed when you put your foot down

Actually, it's been pretty good. Since the motor conversion I haven't had a single problem with it. It just goes and goes.

And SIKTOY, the VT might have been 'response', but it is alot newer, and bigger motor, but won't use anywhere near the same amount of gas as the uno will :D And the uno will go just as fast :P

My car does about 3200 at 100kph, the gear ratios are pretty low I suppose.

So what have you changed from the standard Uno, which according to my calculations requires 2700rpm for 100km/h, or perchance is that tacho a typical piece of Italian electronics (I've always though they should be pronounced Vague-lia :D)

Hmmm, perhaps you and Akane should swap tachos as his seems to be reading a bit high

BTW I've created a page where you can check what you speed to RPM should be http://www.users.on.net/~fivebob/speedcalc.htm

No I don't, it's still 1.8 of a tank from empty, and then once it reaches empty the light comes on and it does another 70 odd km :P

I don't know what my final drive or gear ratios are :( But how about I use the tacho I have sitting on the dash (aftermarket) and compare...... If they're the same then the original must be accurate......

According to http://www.carfolio.com/specifications/ ... ?car=38269 the final drive ratio is 3.35 and top gear is 0.88

Given that the top speed of the car is 200km/h and they make 118hp @6000rpm I think it's pretty safe to assume it's not doing top speed @ 3000rpm 8O

Yes I once owned an Alfa 75, the 1750 model with twin side draught dellortos. Lovely sounding car but when I first got her the tacho read on the low side. I would have the thing screaming in each gear only to be shown 5000rpm on the tacho

Can I just point out that's the wrong car :)

Thats a Series 2, with 1400 turbo.

The earlier 1300 were quicker :) And I have the earlier :P

As long as I can point out that your car has less HP (105 @5750) and lower top speed (196km/h) :P

BTW if this car is the right one the Final drive is 3.59 and top gear is 0.863, thus making you tacho error even more Vague-lia :D
