I cant for the life of me see how to remove the pin connecting the piston to the conrod. Any suggestions short of taking to it with a hammer?

put piston assembly in oven and heat.
then push gudgeon out.

heat up the area where the gudgen goes through the piston with a gas torch, but dont get it red hot just hot enough until u can push it out with some pliers.

Gas torch? That a bit brutal. I did it with a heat gun. Less chance of melting the edges.

Are you supposed to be heating wherer the pin goes into the piston, or were the pin enters the rod? as it seems firmly attached to the rod...

that should come out easy, it's the gudgeon pin that needs to be heated to get out most of the time

pull the clip out
run hot water onit push it out an oil it up b4 theres any rust

Ok this is weird... I pushed the piston as far to one side as possible, yet I couldnot see and circlip...any suggestions?

ROFL @ you guys, especially with a gas torch...... south auckland styles yo?

The proper procedure according to the service manual is heat the setup with water tank, until 80 degrees or so (can't remember correctly but it's around that figure)

But the oven one is not bad imo, it should work just as well.

ok i dont think they have circlips.

which means they are press fit. so you may need a press

With press ones I assume they need to be pressed out in a certain direction? or doesnt it matter?

i've seen the gas torch used on a few motors now. even on mine. seemed to work ok, just make sure you dont get them anywhere near glowing red hot.

yes, but if you only need 80-100degrees to get enough expansion, why would you waste gas by heating them nearer to 1000degrees?
