Arc cold air box?

Ive seen these cold air boxes on two ae111's on trade me and would like to know is it really worth the effot of fitting them? DO they really make a difference? How do they work or are they just a hollow alloy box.......who has had experience with them and how much do they cost??? All input appreciated.

Its just a cold air box that costs heaps. Has a pretty efficent filter though so there could be a bit of a gain. Most ARC things are made of tig welded titanium, look real nice.

Air box is in a way like a plenum/intake resignator
they have a bellmouth on the inside, using max volume ment to help torque

YEah im talking about the airbox that sits between the filter and plenium. Any1 know the cost of these things??

the ARC airbox stores air while you are in low RPM, when you start reving your car, it will already have the stored air for use, therefore helping with top end power. But don't expect too much power gain. probably just 1-2 hps, but you will be able to feel a better response from your car at top end.

eek... 27L per second, thats a fair whack of air...

so even a reletivly large one holding 6L is going to take a whole .2 seconds to empty.

Made a wicked differance on my old s14 silvia anyway. Noticed a great reponse when pumping the gas pedal and changing gears.. They are good.

Dont get me wrong, having an airbox/resonators does make a difference, but not for the reasons that some people think.

I've thought about doing a pod filter setup in my AE111 for a while. But I don't see the point in locating your filter here like a lot of people do. Surely you are going to get less air, not to mention hot air having your filter sitting in behind your battery.

A factory airbox with a K&N filter would give you more performance....

Looking at doing what a frind of mine has done, turned the battery around and run pipe into the guard with a pod attached.

astrae : your very right about the pod there... if you look there is no clamp onit... this is because I was setting up the dual coils I have more pipe that leads the pod into the guard, And this is in a AE101 so before this it was runing AFM stock airbox and a K&N.
