Postby IH8TEC » Thu Sep 21, 2006 3:51 pm

ok, now my motor is freshly built up, timing etc al set up properly, but i only get -8vac on my boost guage, when engine breaking it goes to -9, but wont go any further, anyone got any suggestions as to why this could be, i dont have any leaks of anything.

any suggestions, got me puzzled :?

Have you plugged in the guage in the right place (not T into purge line)...

only thing i can think maybe that i've been meaning to fix for a while, is how the wastegate hose is plumbed to the bov as well, i've been meaning to make them seperate lines

but would that affect it that much?

if it does not idle funny, then it is either faulty guage or blocked hose.

Can you feel it hit boost though, i know in that car you always used to be able to. So if you cant then maybe its not the gauge?

Are you running the brake booster off the old oil breather pipe? If so not a good idea. The oil breather pipe goes before the throttle body which means off throttle theres no vacum getting to the brakes. Its supposed to run on vacum on throttle off (after the throttle body). If you have modified the old oil breather line to go into the manifold disregaurd what I said :D

Another thing I noticed, you have the petrol breather going after the throttle body :? Put it before the throttle body as it is from factory.

Have you still got that dodgy old autometer gauge on it that the car came with?
