You say that you cannot get 4 inch components... then in the same sentence you say that you can get 4 inch components and hotwire is the place to go.
Make up your mind!

Read it like that

If it is attached to a baffle, not the metal part of the door itself, then that baffle is probably around 6" or more in diameter (may be funny shaped though), and you can more than likely make up a MDF replacement for this with a cutout for a 6" speaker. Make sure the speaker magnet doesn't hit the window when it's wound down and make sure it fits beneath the door card too, so you might have to do some measuring to find the optimum thickness of the MDF baffle if you make one. Don't forget to paint it or whatever so it doesn't distort from moisture absorbtion too..

Its not in the door and its the metal mounting plate that is 4"

Well if it ain't in the door, then it's either in the parcel tray, in which some cheapies would be fine (rear fill isn't terribly important), or it's in the dashboard, in which I recommmend some 4" components. Which components all depends on your budget. If you have $200+ to spend, I definately recommend talking to the guys at [Paul's Audio about some Rainbow, Focal or DLS components. Believe me, even the entry level models from these brands sh*t all over pioneer and fusion etc.
