ie not a 45 deg angle like that one. and peak torque was around 4500. with everything tailing off around 6400ish, rather than peaking

Ah ok, the fatter thing can be caused by how the Dynapack software scales into the torque curve. This one if you calculate it down actually makes a minimum of 130nm @ hubs and peaks at 156 - so a range of 26nm over a 6000rpm rev range. The reason it looks peaky/steeper is where the 20v stays (and feels to drive) flat, the VTEC starts off as a semi-traditional 1.6 NA thing - then raises or at least maintains its VE as the revs rise. Rising torque with rising revs gives a steep torque curve.

For what its worth, Loudtoy's AE101 peaked at 140nm @ hubs.

if the 20v is mounted north-south it is a far superior engine to the b16a none of this FWD crap. however since they are both FWD from factory id rather a B16A over a silvertop but not a blacktop.

so true, thats when you really see the blacktops at there best, you can get more traction for taking off at higher revs where the sweet spot is not so far away, and you wont be wheel spinning, in the fwd they are more docile,b16's don't really float my boat. rev all day but dont get anywhere.

id like to see how a blacktop in a aw11 is like. if any one has this setup lets swap cars for a few days. lotus sus+ blacktop

Well, heres my dyno plot, if it helps to this thread at all.

Completely standard silver-top, with screwed vvt pulley I believe.

screwed vvt pulley = clicky clicky right? yea pretty sure my vvt pulley is bung, I drove a mates ae101 and whilst it didnt pull that much harder it did feel a lot smoother with the power delivery compared to my vvt impaired silvertop.

My personal opinion on 20vs is alot like opinion on hondas, good...sometimes, but sometimes ruined by the users of them, eg the atards who think theyve got the fastest car in the world cos they have vtec/20v, and the usual chromie crowd for hondas.

Even with the screwed vvt pulley and 195ks on the engine, the engine still can provide a helluva lota fun.

After driving quite a few cars I would say that 20v deff rates up there for fun factor, keeping the revs up is all part of the fun :D Teaching yourself to heel-toe is a good way to keep the revs up, also helps me with my crunchy 3rd gear synchro
