4age cams, using two exhaust cams

Postby frost » Sat Jul 28, 2007 11:41 pm

hi all, i have a question for those who have used after market cams in a 16v 4age, im wanting info about the trick of using two exhaust cams in the motor,
i have hks cam gears and will be getting some hks cams in, im getting 264 and 272 8.1mm exhaust cams so i can mix and match them round if i need later,

how is it done? is it just a straight swap in job,
do the dwells(?) on the front of the cam shaft need to be relocated in the correct side (intake side)
or should i not bother and just order intake and exhaust cams
thanks jack

Shouldnt have any problems. the dowels are in the same place, the cam gears just have two slots, one for intake one for exhaust

It just means you'll have a Dizzy drive on both cams. The position of the locating pin means nothing as you'll set the cams up with adjustable cam gears.

say you decided you wanted to change from 264 in 254 ex to 272 in 264 ex
you could throw the intake cam on the exhaust side and will only need to buy one new cam
