I don't know about Auckland, I can get something made in Wellington but that doesn't help you! Anyone who does gear cutting up there? They should be able to do it. A GOOD engineer will also be able to make you some. You sorta need to know what you are asking for though or some people will be very unhelpful!

if you check out the classifieds of speedsport magazine there is usually aguy advertising this sevice- i know a couple of people who have sent their centres to him and are very pleased with his modification.

and blah blah dont let anyone tell you its heavy .. . its only 20 kg heavier than the T series which is sweet F/a for the reliablilty

Up until now I have never pulled a Hilux LSD to pieces, I did today and found that all they have is a preload clutch system, there is no real LSD parts inside!
What this means is that as soon as you overpower the preload torque you have an open wheeler!
So it is not as simple as just have parts made to change the ramp/loading angle. You would have to do some serious open heart missions!
The may be another Hi-lux LSD that is a different design though although after a few phone calls today I could not find this to be the case.

yeah hilux diffs are pretty much the same from the early 80s till the current model

and now u mention it yeah theres only the plates in there.... never really looked and thought about how they worked untill now :lol:

you can see what the vn001 (surf/hilux diff) fitted and what the ra010 fits.
nothing similar that i can see. but im not an expert on toyota rwd diffs

i reckon a trip to the wreckers to try a few diffs in other housings is needed.

having said that ezy10s occasionly knows what hes on about :P

trd diff codes

that part no is for RA celicas with a 7.5 diff size, hilux would be G series or 8inch series i would have thought any way the ra series have been superceeded to the altezza 7.5lsd trd center hope this helps .if you give me the code of the hilux i can look into the trd diff catologe

quite interesting looking at that list- am thinking it may have been the mz210 unit as i know some of those vehicles like the gz20 and the supercharged and turbo charged 1ggte GX-81 vehicles ran the G series diff in them.

isnt it the mk3 supra that runs the g series diffs? i wouldnt have a clue what chassis code that is lol.

the thing with interchanging these diffs is the center can be offset slightly different to the hilux. i'm yet to get my hands on one to compare. so just thinking about the worst case sernio :?

but every diff on that page says its for a 'F' series no mention of a 'G' series diff?

also i thought a g series was 7.75" not 8" thats what the book at my mates diff workshop says.

does anyone have more info on fitting the supra head to the hilux housing?

you'd only use the carrier and swap it into the hilux head.

Revhead- are the 41301-MZ201 units still available? seems to be according to the catalogue but could you check for me pleae dude.
these are the ones that fit into the G series head units.

the main reason i'd be looking to do this is to find a taller ratio and decent lsd. i currently have a 4.3 lsd which is ok but i think the turbo would like having a bit more load, i'm also hoping to prevent the 4th gear wheelspin in the dry....

ah yup- just look for a jzx81 g series diff head - i think they come with a 3.9 ratio std.
