bearings are bigger on the supra one, and the part the bearing sits on. so wont fit stright in the hilux carier. could probably go to a helpfull bearing shop and find something to match. but im just going to spin the ends down and use the hilux bearings. since lathe is at hand

ah yup

Postby ezy10s » Sat Aug 04, 2007 2:48 pm

if you look at the trd lsd catalogue they say you need to run their special side bearings- this is a common thing and i had to sort this out with my F series TRD lsd when i bought it also.
The bearings are available form
Auckland Bearings LTD here on the shore(im sure most bearing shops also carry these). From memory i think trade cost set me back approx $50 for the pair.

So you are saying the supra one is no good either?

Im thought the issue with the hilux one was it has no ramps at all,
so cannot even be improved much.

Does the supra one have ramps? Maybe the one you tested is just a weak one and may need a "tune up" so to speak

this one is clutch type. seems to be the same deal as the hilux one. i did spilt it in half, but really didnt take much notice other than a quick look at a couple of the plates for excessive wear then bolted it back together. wish i had of striped it right down, and had a better look now.
does just the same as what the hilux one does. works fine in a straight line, but when , how should i say it.. doing a "u-turn" it just spins the inside wheel.
has pretention but feels as tho it has no ramps like the hilux one. the case looks the same as the hilux one also.

1600+ for trd one sounds a bit harsh, retail?
