evo injectors on a microtech,

Postby tsoob » Thu Aug 16, 2007 11:40 pm

i was told from a mechanic that with my microtech ecu i will need to run resistors is that right? because they are a low resistance injector ??

Just finished doing a full EVO ECU and Loom so I can say that the EVO's run injector resistors from factory, so that means they are low resistance for sure, so yes you will, as I dont think microtech's have current control like motec's.

hey matt i read in the install manual that the ecu should not be run off the starter (ie main fuse that is fed from starter) ? have you ever had any problems doing so? we have installed a mother of a positive feed in to the starter then reasonable feed to the main fuse box??

Have not done a microtech myself, mainly link's and motec.

I have had problems where the link's had troube starting if the ECU power is fed direct from the key along with too many other accessories, and the starter is too,
but if one of them run's a relay it's fine.

As longf as you have a large enough cable and not too many connection along the way you'll be fine.
Mostly seen the voltage drop problem where an ecu was wired in on top of a std loom and just hooked into a random ign feed.

ok, i have installed a muther of a feed wire (suitable for marine use) and will be run on its own fuse etc so sound like its ok.

Links, and I suspect a majority of aftermarket ECU's, require a clean power source. If the voltage drops too much the ECU will reset with a resulting stop in all ECU functions momentarily. I suspect that Links wont even power up until the resulting power drain is removed, IE you stop the starter motor.

voltage is 12 volts and over 13 when i hook up the falcon to the battery with jumper leads, so dont think its voltage drop problem, it turns over well, can smell heaps of fuel around and has got plenty of spark??

are you taking that reading from where the ecu has its 12V + source from?
