exedy 5 puck clutch

Are the 5 puck clutch kits suppose to move a soft clutch pedal.....i got one for my r154 box running in my jza80 supra an the paddle is really really soft......i r154 is pull type but the previous owner had modified it to work as a push type so im running the push type set up an the pressure plate came with the clutch from exedy.....

Pressure plate is where the pedal force comes from.

R154 with a push style clutch sounds wonky though.

When I bought my 3 puck clutch it came with a pretty soft pressure plate. Because the surface area of the clutch plate is lower, the clamping force can also be lower and retain the same (or more) actual "grip" (friction). At least, thats what I've been told by my clutch guy + read.

So yes, the pedal will probably feel softer than a factory clutch.



As a side note, perhaps this is why some people find puck clutches awful on the street? If you used a puck clutch with a really heavy pressure plate it would = a huge amount of friction = really "bitey", not much finesse.

yea the thing is my car is suppose to have near 400wkw...goin to dyno tomorow to get it tuned will the pressure plate hold up??? i hope so coz the guys who installed it are confident it will work....

ive got the exedy kits such as that, peddle is pretty springy and plate is rather bitty, not to soft tho
