headgasket - 4age

Hey can anyone tell me if you can buy a 2.5-3mm headgaskeet for a smallport ae101 4agze block and if so where from?

any help would be great

Why such a thick gasket?

need to drop the compression as iv gone turbo, and the compressions to high to run anymore than around 10psi and iv been told even then that could be pusing it

Really as I have seen GZE's with standard head gaskets run up to 20 psi successfully.

Is it a GE or a GZE that you are refering too,
and who told you that?

Thicker head gasket does not help with detonation. Even if you drop compression via headgasket, you are removing squish areas which increases detonation.

exactly, thicker headgasket is the worst way to reduce compression, if anything you want a thinner headgasket to improve squish and change compression with pistons.

its not GE its a ae101 GZE, and from what iv been told gze pistons handle fine mr clever up there ^

i got 145kw on 5psi and was told the compression was rather high by brent at dynopower (200 on each cylinder) and he reconed i would only be able to run 10psi and even then that would be pushing it and i want to run about 15psi and no its running a link g3 with electronic boost control.

I think the compression on the late model gze's is about 8.9:1, is this to high to run 15psi on?

I run just under 18psi on 8.9:1 pistons, can't remember what the compression results were though.

But 145kw is pretty high for 5 psi! Maybe your head has been skimmed a few times in its life?

from what i know of it hasnt been skimmed but i could be wrong, what are other compression readings people have had from there gze's if theres anyone else out there whos had it done?

Compression reading is not relevant to compression ratio.

yeah well the whole compression thing is all new to me so thats why im asking for advice and trying to get to grips on how it all works and what i should do

200PSI (13.7Bars) is good, but that does not mean that you have 13.7 compression ratio. Compression tests will only show if there is a problem with a specific cylinder, unless the reading are too low.

if its still the same engine its never been apart from what i remember,
so should all be standard inside,
i wouldnt be looking at changing it,
compression test doesnt tell you the compression ratio

hey si, yeah its the same engine and i havent touched the internals so you recon it would be alright to up the boost with out doing anything with the head/gasket?
