SR20 help

Postby groupagt4 » Fri Jun 10, 2011 4:58 pm

Hi guys

Got a sr20de powered s14(manual). It keeps on dropping revs and dying when i come to a standstill. It runs fine under normal driving conditions, just dies as soon as I come to an intersection. I have checked the battery and alternater and they are both fine, any idea what it could be?

I know I sound like a broken record with this, but have you run diagnostics?

Not sure how to run the diagnostics. I have tried to do a bit of research but cant figure it out. It doesnt backfire or anything, just dies. It has a stupid aftermarket intake pipe and pod. There is a pipe coming from the cam cover that looks like it goes to the factory intake pipe, in this case it is just blocked off, could it be this?

Hi mate,

I had the same issue in my old SR20 sentra. Kept stalling at inconvenient times and made traffic a real nightmare. I was advised that the O2 sensor was stuffed but didn't have a chance to test that out as the car caught fire.

Maybe a place to start? Mine was also running pretty rich and not very efficiently.

I have found this on quite a few cars i have driven with SR engines. Maybe stretched cam-chain kicking out cam angle sensor?

And give the AFM a good clean with some Co-contact cleaner. Make sure the TPS plug is clean too.

I had an issue with it hunting and revving too high at warm idle with mine, but can't quite remember what I did to fix it.... But check those out.
