Rust repairs

I'm in Auckland, paint bubbling around B pillar, size of a 10c coin. What kind of $$$ am I looking at? No paint necessary just primer will be OK.

Any good shops to recommend guys? Cheers.

Impossible to tell.
Rust starting from the inside can be major. What you see may only be the tip of the iceberg.
Chances are it's only a little patch. But potentially it could be major

Also I believe that primer is porous, so best paint over it, then leave it exposed for long periods of time.

Can get porous / non-porous primers. I'd just grind it back and see the damage first. Might just need a rust killer paint job.

Do not use por15 on the outer part of the roof. If you do get some on it, wipe it straight off with thinners, otherwise let dry and grind it all off the outer layer. THat shit cannot be sanded down smooth if you're after a smooth finish later down the track.

I had to grind my por15 off, as I will soon be doing to David's blue beast as well where necessary

You probably can sand it. Years since I looked, but I think they said POR15, light sand, Tie-coat primer, then whatever top / primer / whatever else you want to put on the top. Depends on the finish wanted I guess. I'd probably just give it a light sand and put normal primer and carry on as per normal. Their tie-coat primer is probably better for the job though.

If you have an uneven surface, which is most likely if it's rusty, then no matter what you put on it you'll need to do more work to get it smooth. I just think of POR15 as the base used to neutralise the rust. It's by no means a top coat that will be perfectly smooth. I know for a fact it says that on the information sheets. That said you could probably filter POR15 like you would any other paint to remove any containments.

Not any of the POR 15 I've used. Only needs paint if in UV light. Otherwise doesn't need paint. It is not porous

Also it only needs paint in uv if you dont want it to fade, the por15 people reckon its only the coloration that is effected by uv, the actual paint is fine.

Spot painted roof on a hiace with black Por15. Too lazy so left it outside for a few month. When it was raining I though I saw por15 "running". Checked it with finger, definitely top layer was dissolved with water (like water colour).
