Can I dismantle seatbelt buckle?

Post by ollieboy »

New Question: Am I able to dismantle seatbelt buckles? The switch inside jams so my seatbelt light does not come on.

Picture of buckle attached:

As you can see the switch does not come all the way out. Other than that the buckle works fine. Holds seatbelt securely and is not unsafe.

Thanks,

Ollie

I have two questions. The first is regarding this box I found under my driving seat. Is it for keyless entry?

Also my seatbelt light isn't working in the dash. I have a wiring diagram and it looks like this:

What do the arrows mean on 1e, 3a and 3c.

Thanks for your help.

It's the controller for your seatbelt light on the dash :D

No idea on the arrows.

Sorry, couldn't resist that......
See ya

Haha, :D

On closer inspection, it looks like a mini nuclear power plant.

That looks like the factory keyless entry found in some jza80's so odds on it being the same are pretty high :)

arrows are just connectors.

check if the seat belt switch is connected under seat.

That controller is definitely some radio device, which suggest keyless entry.

Ok cool. Thanks for that.

Everything is connected for the seatbelt light and is showing current. I can get the light to turn on by bridging the two terminals on the clips. There is no current flowing through the buckle though so I think it must be a switch inside the buckle. Do you know if these are serviceable?

Edit: Mostly solved. Title and original post now edited. :)

Stupid question but why do you want the light to work?

We remove them all the time at work.

Because I am OCD :)

I'm just fixing up everything in the car and it is one of the things I want working. Not for any particular reason though.

The belt buckles are not servicable, even if you could take them apart would you want to risk it not going back together properly?

If its jamming you could try a touch of crc but thats all I would do.
