Can i run a 2jzge with 20valve quads on a link??
Got a 2jzge on the way. it's a replacment engine sorta thing with no ecu and a severly chopped loom and im bored with no project atm so i mayaswell throw i in a Ke70.
So my question is how easy/hard would it be to run 20valve quad throttle's with a link on the thing?
Some questions i have are...
.Is there any differences between the silver and black top quads?
.What is the cheapest link ecu i could use? unless there is a better allternative?
.Also does anyone make or know someone who makes an auto bell into a manual for a W series box?
Any help greatly appreciated!
Cheers
Ben

Or were you going to run 1.5 sets of the throttles?
We used 1.5 sets of 20V quads on our XR6T focus.
After a week of trying and lots of well know people telling us it would not work,
we gave up and fitted a big single on the front.
Basically because of the physical volume of the engine 4000cc,
it causes too large pressure pulses for the map sensor to get a stable reading.

For some reason i thought you could seperate them??
What would you suggest then??
I have also had the suggestion of supercharging it as someone i know ha a moderatly priced sc14 what would suitable injection be for that application or would i be better to stick with the standard injection?

Yeah i was relly thinking that if i went supercharger i will just use an old v8 top mount 80x20cm unit i have.

Matt, I gather you were using large overlap cams? I also gather you joined all runners together and used a pot to collect all vacuum? Then took map from the collected point?
You could have used something like the Link TPS and MAP settings which uses TPS only for the first 3 rows then map only for the remaining.
Personally I wouldnt bother going ITB on any engine unless its a spec racer and you need every HP. There are much cheaper solutions that will give you substancially more HP, such as turbo or supercharger.

Yes, collected them into a separate chamber/runner to try and give an overall vacuum signal.
Standard cams.
Not only us, Nizpro in australia and motec themselves told us it wont work,
and they should know.
Nizpro has done over 1 year's development on the XR6T's.

Matt, I've little experience on big bangers (I'm a screamer man myself). I'm attempting to get my head around why ITB affects MAP signal. Surely it shouldnt matter if its ITB or one TB. Unless you are forced to change your map collection point.
Did your solution also mean going AFM?

youll be fine ..
it will sound freaking awesome
just use the pulsation dampener from a blacktop 20v and you will have no troubles with standard camshafts

If you're only planning on running four of them then you'd have to put them before the plenum, or plenums depending on how you do it. In that case you wouldn't have the so many issues with the MAP signal flucuating wildly.
If you want to run them as one throttle per cylinder then you'll need some sort of signal damper. Which may not be that effective in giving you a clean signal. Wouldn't be as much of an issue on a NA engine as it would be on a turbo.
