Actually it sounds more like the CV to me. Mine made the same noise but with accompanied suspension bouncing, failed a WOF because of a "worn shock"

oh, one other thing i noticed. I dont drive the car too often, only when we go on holiday, but once i hit 120kph the whole car and stearing wheel shudders like crazy. I know it didnt used to do that so im not sure its related to the current probllem or the wheels just need a good ballance.
