Seems like a good idea, but rules need a bit of a re-work i think. Maybe a couple classes of different modification levels, so people without huge $ can still go out there and have some fun.

They should add a TS-cup like series to this one - so under 1600cc starlets/corollas/Sunnys etc.

Low ...

Hmm, cant seem to find it. From the cross sections i have worked it out to be roughly 35mm, but its kinda hard to tell.
What sort of price would a new set from Toyota be?

1zz-fe pistons

Hi all,

Looking at fitting some 1zz-fe pistons into another motor and was wondering if anyone had or knew of the specs of them - basically i know they are 79mm and have a 20mm gudgeon, but need to know the compression height (distance between centre of gudgeon pin and the top of the crown), as ...

I was under the impression the twin headlight conversion is not bolt on on the 2 door body variants (coupes/notches/liftbacks).

Looks a bit strange imo

dont think it has two gearboxes, just a driveshaft from engine in the front to box in the rear (tricky to do as the crank turns alot faster than the wheels) like those horrible crossfire things, then a second driveshaft back to the front of the car to drive the front wheels.

Errrm? Most cars ...

Another reason why they are that way around is in cold climates if the carbs were out the front they would frost up causing cold starting issues.
Not as much as a deal on efi cars however

be careful comparing what others have done, as the MK1 engine bay appears to be narrower and shorter than the Mk2. remembering the Mk 1 is a pushrod body shell and the Mk2 is OHC.

hence when building the MK1 twincams and BDAs the engine was actually mounted on a slight angle

Umm, im pretty ...

Dont think mating them to a conventional drivesahft is too much of an issue, though i havent really looked into that aspect as my area of interest has been mid-mount chain drive.

I would assume they would just use a yoke that uses the spline where the output sprocket of the gearbox normally is.

hayabusa engine and boxes weigh a lot less than that - try between 80 and 90kg.

I wouldn't go with one in a car that weighs over 600kg though. I would be suprised if a lotus7 style kit car weighs that? Most of the english ones clock in around 450-500 with bike engines. Unless the car you are ...

How'd you make your ITB manifold? Any pics?

pretty interested in these motors as i have said. Easy way would be going to 1uz-fe but i prefer the 2jz-ge.

Any idea about port/valve sizing on 1jz/1jzgte/2jz/2jzgte variants?

People have said they dont repsond well to n/a tuning but i believe ...

Look them up in phone book, dont think they have a website. They are in Palmerston North. Kelford would be my choice though, they probably have the best rep in NZ as far as cam grinding goes.

I've heard you can get some good gains out of the 2jz-ge, so let me know how you go. I am keen on using ...

ae86 vs. Kp starlet - handling

So, what do you guys think handles better - in modified form.

My thoughts is starlet would prob be quicker on tight courses / autocrosses etc, and the ae86 would be better on full tracks.

The short wheelbase of starlet would lend it to being able to change direction faster, but be more ...
