Re: Bulk wire sourcing

Pick-a-part is my main source, it's $40 for any harness that's 3m or longer - I just go there, find a newish car with the longest, thickest harness I can find, and remove it.

For high current cables I've spent the last few years using repco's now defunct clearance website and bought up anything ...

Vehicl Transport Levin - ChCh?

I may need to have a car transported from Levin to Christchurch soon, is a rolling body so would need to be winched onto whatever transports it.

Has anyone got any recommendations for who to use or not use? Have used Jeffs in the past, but they like to charge a fair whack.

Also don't forget to let the Ammeter sit connected for a minute or two before taking the final reading - a lot of cars will draw considerably higher current when first connected whilst their ECU's do checks when power is first connected after being off.

^^^ First reply has nailed it, the regulator is toast.

STOP driving it immediately!

It will be loading up the battery something fierce, which can cause some rather unpleasant effects, the least of which being it boiling the fluid into a toxic gas (Turns back into acid when it re-condenses ...

The derestriction sign is being completely phased out, they haven't even issued it a new designation number in the TCD manual.

Still a regulatory sign according to MOTSAM.

LSZ signs should all be gone tho.

Have a look at the date on the pdf Well before the release date of the mighty TCD ...

Altezza engine swap question

Quick question regarding gearboxes/bellhousings.

Have a friend with a 1G-FE 6spd manual IS200, considering swapping in a 2JZ-GE, I'm not familiar with these blocks, how much grief is there to be had as far as making the original gearbox work?

You don't need an engine crane, just need a few high lifting car jacks, you lower the engine & gearbox down together, and jack the car up and off it.

Make sure you have the front wheels with a paver or two under them, or the nose will eat the dirt as the rear rises.

Well, and this is just my opinion, shared by few, ignored by most, that if you can't break the tyres loose whilst rolling in 2nd, you don't need a locker or even a LSD.

A well setup car running a open diff is unbeatable round corners, thus why a lot of the high-spec mercs, bmw's, jags, etc have ...
