Re: 4AGZE Power loss at high RPM

You could try pulling a little bit of IGN timing via the CAS. That worked for me with one of my old MAP 4agze's, it flew passed 5500 and went better than ever (butt dyno).

Other than that, you could try source a new knock sensor, I don't think they can be bought new anymore though.

It's not the ...

Just say that Leon from Toyspeed gave you his number.

He's been working on my 20v for the last 13 years :)

Re: fitting e58 gearbox to 20v

I stand corrected! You know what they say about assumptions...

I was thinking about this recently since I'm parting out my AE92 GTZ and thought about keeping it and putting a cheap 4age and C series for autocross etc.

I have some ae82 hubs though, I should compare them and see.

Don't forget the hubs due to larger shafts.

Re: What to buy??? IS350, Mark X 350S or Aurion?

I really like the Mark X 350S, totally want one. If I sold my Chaser I'd be looking at that. I wonder if they can be privately imported?

Useful post is useful :P

Re: Turbo suggestions for TD42 diesel

You can start with an SR20 though, and work up - getting to the SR point in the first place is going to cost a lot less

That is true, I originally took this as starting with an SR20 then swapping to the 1JZ, but I now see you must have meant SR20DET > SR20VET.

I wonder how much a decent build ...

Re: Turbo suggestions for TD42 diesel

I potentially know of a cheap SR20VE if you want to tread that path...

fck, why do you have to go say something like that?! ...still the cost of machining and building etc versus a stock VVTI 1JZ...

Yep could start with an SR20DET but plan on it being road legal, and the body is factory CA18DET ...

Re: Turbo suggestions for TD42 diesel

Yep there is always the debate for keeping it within the family, but it doesn't worry me, I'm just choosing an engine I like and putting it into a good chassis.

It was going to be an FD3S with 1JZ but I soon found that there wouldn't be enough headroom with a helmet, which was an unfortunate deal ...

Re: Turbo suggestions for TD42 diesel

Impressive stuff! Does he not want to move to an external wastegate?

I have my mind set on a 1JZGTE VVTi engine for my S13, but the SR20 is still hanging in there as a possibility. Especially with these numbers.

Cheers mate but I went with a T3 flanged TD05 (this is an old thread, revived by spam bot selling...something... indecipherable)

EDIT: I see the spam was deleted...so that could be confusing.

Re: Turbo suggestions for TD42 diesel

Lol, maybe! We have had a HEAP of issues with the internal wastegate actuator on my mates SR20 one though, one of the reasons I didn't have much issue with recommending an externally gated one for your 4AGE as the turbo itself has been a weapon - its hit around 300kw on E85 with it WANTING to run ...

Re: Turbo suggestions for TD42 diesel

Lol that dude is all about the Xanax. You have the Kinugawa on two of your cars now? How is it on the diesel?

Yep, the same Kinugawa turbo on both, there is a huge thread about these on one of the Australian Patrol/Safari forums. There are variations of people using the 6cm and 8cm exhaust ...

Re: Turbo suggestions for TD42 diesel

I have not heard of that turbo, thanks for the suggestion. I went with a TD05 16G, but a XANAXASSDSCXXXCHINAAPHETIMINE could be an option too perhaps?
